What to Know About Delivery Receipts
- The recipient's signature is the legal heart of a POD. It converts 'we sent it' into 'they accepted it', which is where liability for the goods transfers.
- A condition line signed at the door ('received in good condition' or noted exceptions) is the document that decides later damage claims.
- Recording who signed matters as much as the signature. 'left with front desk / neighbor' is a materially different delivery than 'signed by addressee'.
- Timestamped PODs are billing evidence for couriers paid per delivery window or same-day premium.
- For COD deliveries, the receipt doubles as the payment record, amount collected and method belong on the same signed page.
