Flooring Invoice Generator
Flooring bills by the square foot, twice: once for the material and once for the installation, and the honest invoice keeps them apart, because that's how customers comparison-shop and how discovered subfloor work gets explained. This invoice carries the per-sq-ft structure, the waste factor, and the prep lines the trade runs on.

What to Know About Flooring Invoices
- Installed flooring prices as material $/sq ft + labor $/sq ft; invoices that blend them can't be reconciled against either the flooring store's receipt or competing bids.
- The waste factor (commonly ~10%, more for diagonal or patterned layouts) means material square footage exceeds the room's. Stating both numbers pre-empts the 'you charged for more than my room' call.
- Subfloor prep (leveling, moisture mitigation, rot repair) is the discovered work of flooring; billed as authorized lines with dates, exactly like plumbing's extras, because it can't be quoted until the old floor is up.
- Transitions, trim, and stair nosing bill per piece or per linear foot as their own lines. The small parts that make a big difference to the total on stairs-heavy jobs.
- Moisture testing before install (concrete slabs especially) protects the workmanship warranty; a line documenting it was done ties the warranty to a verified starting condition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the material square footage more than my room?
Cuts and pattern matching create waste, about 10% for straight lays, more for diagonals and patterns. The invoice showing measured area and material area separately is the honest version of a number every flooring bill contains silently.
How is subfloor work handled?
It can't be seen until the old floor is out, so it bills as discovered work: assessed, authorized with a date, then invoiced as its own line. Flooring bids that 'include everything' either padded the price or will fight you later.
Material and labor. One line or two?
Two, always: customers can price-check material at the store and labor against other installers only if your invoice splits them. Blended pricing reads as having something to hide.
